You won't be able to use the verizon phone anywhere esle besides the united states. Verizon uses CDMA technology meaning it is a closed system only for the united states. You can purchase a GSM phone and use it over seas. Check out www.phonescoop.com it will have user reviews and it also has a forum so you can ask to find out if anyone knows of a good plan to use overseas too. They also have a place where you can compare prices on handsets.
