Can an iPhone without a service contract be used as a better iPod?
Hi, I have the opportunity to buy my friend's iPhone 3G for 0. I currently have an iPod touch, but would like to be able to use the camera, and GPS that the iPhone has. He is upgrading to an iPhone 3GS, and I would assume transfer the contract to his new phone. My question is whether or not I would be able to use this iPhone 3G as an iPod touch, with more features? Would I need to jailbreak it to use it this way?

the only thing extra you would be getting is a camera which would be cool. the gps would only work when your in a wifi zone because your not going to have a service provider hooked up on the phone. so the only thing is do you really want a camera? but i would buy it anyways and jailbreak it then take it to t-mobile or something.
