can anyone tell me the difference between gsm phones and cdma phones? is there such thing as gsm/cdma phones?
i wanna upgrade my phone. i have verizon plan and tell told me to wait til april next year for me to be eligible for an upgrade..that sucks! and if i buy my own phone, they said it has to be cdma compatible. What d heck is that? im only familiar with gsm. i regret having verizon.

cdma is digital service but there are 2 types that I know of , cdma and tdma. the biggest difference is your carrier. If you are looking for a phone say for instance on ebay, make sure it is compatible with your carrier and it is unlocked. gsm phones work off of sim cards while the other two dont.
