Can I use Verison Phones with Alltel?

I am an Alltel customer, and I heard recently they were bought out by Verison. My contract is up in a month and am looking to purchase a new phone, but I find Verison has better phones, or at least what I am looking for. Considering Verison bought out my company, can I now use their phones under my service? or can I still only use Alltel phones?
