Do cell phones send out location info even if GPS is turned off?

I put my cell phone in the same spot every night when I go to sleep, by a little radio. And you know when cell phones interfere with speakers? That sound, if your phone is by a speaker, right before a call or text? My phone does it EVERY 54 minutes on the button. Is my phone sending out info on my whereabouts, even though my GPS is off?

mine does something like that too, my guess would be that the phone is updating the clock info to make sure the time is always correct. as for finding you, theoretically could be tracked by trianglation of cell towers, but only your provider would have access to that data….
