Has anyone used a US Cellular Phone for txt messages in Paris?

I'm traveling to Paris, France and wanted to use my phone from the states for txt. messaging. US Cellular said I could txt the states w/no problem since it uses the same towers for txt messages but I am a little leary. Has anyone actually done this with success?

   You might want to find out what the cost would be first, it may cost more … and then also, you may want the company to give it to you in writing …
