There is no question for the longest time the the Palm Pilot used to be the coolest pda on the market. Then they created this gizmo called the Visor Handspring, which was followd by Research in Motion's Blackberry - which really made PDA's popular. In '03 Palm Corp. cam out with the Treo 600 and that validated the need in the marketplace to put phone, pda and blackberry into a single unit. One of the best things about the palm compared to other devices is all the connectivity you get. It can serve as a big USB hard drive. Other units on the market today, such as the Treo 700w has lots of other features too, like a camera.
To make things more interesting, Palm dropped the price on the Centro and Treo 500 when they came out in late 2006. The latest Palm is called the Pre - and what's cool about that unit is that it has GPS capability, in addition to all the other standard features.
