Following the merger of GTE and Bell Atlantic it was one of, if not the biggest wireless companies in the world. Then a AT&T was purchased by Cingular. At the beginning of 2009 Alltel purchased Cingular and verizon was born again as the world's biggest wireless organization. For the fiscal year 2007 Verizon had the biggest cash flow of all wireless organizations in the USA and serviced almost 290,000,000 customers. The result has created a massive market for used Verizon phones.

This company stayed close to its ideals of making the best Wireless Network available to its customers'and has worked very hard to be close allies, and partners with the biggest and best in the business. Cell phone companies like LG, Samsung, Motorola, Palm and Sony Ericsson look very closely to verizon for direction on its latest product releases. For example the VZ navigator was one of the first phones to include a GPS capability from Verizon.
