it depends on the original service provider. cell phone companies have the manufactures lock the phones so that they only accept the sim card of that particular provider who purchased it. how ever you can get a code to unlock it. the best source for these codes is the internet. ( i am not allowed to say which sites do to legal reasons.) your best bet is to find out who the original service provider is and go through them. both nextel and t-mobile support the blackberry but both will want you to sign a contract for a minimum of one year. i am not aware of any company that offers a pre-paid blackberry plan.
